From defining a problem to prototyping a concept, students in the NFTE/Corporate Experience course have been working on their business plans all year. Now it’s time to see whose idea can beat out the competition. And the winners of HT’s NFTE Business Competition Finals are…

  • 1st Place: Gabriel Sheikh ’20 for his idea to utilize artificial intelligence in a new way to help professionals improve their presentation skills.
  • 2nd Place: Aaron Trinidad ’20 for his app, which will help nonprofits and volunteers connect and develop long-lasting relationships.
  • 3rd Place: Jessica Roman ’20 for her safe and organic flea control product to keep furry pets safe.
  • Honorable Mention: Kevin Perez ’20, for his compact, color smart printer; Jennifer Rios Lopez ’20, for her smart, cloth diaper concept; and Christian Torres ’20, for his punching bag system that incorporates sensors to help boxers track their stats.

Five Tigers—Gabriel Sheikh, Aaron Trinidad, Jessica Roman, Jennifer Rios Lopez, and Cristian Torres—have been invited to continue on to NFTE’s Chicago Metro Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge with semi-finals on May 15 and the finals on May 21. They’ll compete for the chance to advance to the national challenge in New York City next fall, with a grand prize of $15,000!
