The Tiger spirit is alive and well at Holy Trinity this fall as our athletics are off to a solid start. Girls’ Volleyball has 30 players on two teams, varsity, and junior varsity. They’ve played many opponents already, including Christ the King, Mother McAuley, and Providence St. Mel, and continue to show their tenacity and grit. Physical Education and Driver’s Education teacher Marcelina Tokarczyk is serving as head coach, with Science Teacher Qiana Young ‘98 serving as JV coach.
The Boys Soccer team has 25 players on the varsity team, led by Coach Larry Martin. Alex Munoz ‘17 serves as assistant coach, working alongside his former coach. An important part of Alex’s time at Holy Trinity was pursuing his passion on the soccer field and he is proud to help lead the current team. “Being able to coach means being able to commit to bring out the competitive spirit from our players. They’re so hungry to win and that hunger feeds off throughout the team. I’m honored to be a part of it,” said Munoz.
The soccer team has been holding its practices at the brand new Fleet Field, which is only 10 minutes from west of Holy Trinity and has been a beautiful community space for our students to use.
Our Flag Football team consists of 20 players this year and includes both male and female students. Coach Steve Gladden and Athletic Director Taylor Moore lead this group of determined Tigers.
To celebrate the work of our athletic teams, as well as celebrate our Tiger spirit, Holy Trinity’s Student Government Association is organizing our annual Spirit Week, which will take place during the week of October 26. Student leaders have eagerly and enthusiastically been hard at work planning themed days and other activities for the week, including a Pep Rally and Homecoming Dance. While these favorite traditions will look a little different as we work to ensure they are held in a safe manner, there surely will be no lack of excitement as we take pride in all the accomplishments of our Holy Trinity family!
