The Athletics Department is pleased to announce the hiring of our new boys’ varsity basketball coach, Larry Coats. Coach Larry comes to Holy Trinity with nine years of experience coaching basketball at De La Salle Institute, leading the sophomore team and assisting with the varsity team. In his role, Coach Larry coordinated and participated in the recruitment of quality student-athletes; arranged practices, game plans, and scouting of upcoming opponents; coordinated conditioning along with individual player skill development; and, developed and coordinated summer basketball camps.

“My goal for HT’s basketball program is to return the school back to it’s winning ways,” says Coach Larry. “We will work hard to display a product on the court that generates a buzz around school with students, faculty, and alumni. Our long-term goal is to become conference champions and make the team a state contender!”

In addition to coaching, Coach Larry is a member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 2. A Chicago native, he graduated from De La Salle in 2003. In addition to his IHSA Coaching certification, he is also certified in Sports First Aid.

Stepping in to lead the junior varsity team is Coach Jennifer D’Ambrosio. Coach Jenn led the boys’ varsity basketball team at Chicago Math and Science Academy from 2010-2016. She joined the HT Athletic Department last year as the interim Assistant Athletic Director. Coach Jenn earned a Bachelor of Education from Oral Roberts University and a Master of Educational Leadership and Administration from Concordia University. She has worked as a teacher or administrator since 2008.

“The boys’ basketball program at Holy Trinity shows great promise,” says Athletic Director Daniel DeBonnett. “With Coach Larry and Coach Jenn leading the team, we are confident that promise will be realized into success for our student-athletes on and off the court.”
