Kristina Vargas ‘19 will be moving on to the NFTE Chicago Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge Finals, for her business idea called Dia-BEAT-It.
On Wednesday, May 2, five Holy Trinity students in the NFTE/Corporate Experience class competed in the Regional Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge Semi-Finals. Star Brooks ’19 pitched her business, Star Sliders; Armani Pace ’19 with See Me Bear; Evelyn Padilla ’19 with EthNOlock, Jonathan Vega ’19 with Aegis and Kristina with Dia-BEAT-It. They faced 37 businesses from schools across the region, all competing for just six coveted spots that would advance to round two.
After a morning of pitching in front of judges, two students advanced: Jonathan and Kristina. During round two, the field was narrowed to just three spots for the finals. Kristina wowed the judges with her business, Dia-BEAT-It, which is the product of her personal experience as a teen living with diabetes and her struggles to find tasty, healthy snacks designed for diabetes patients as well as glucose tablets. Her elegant solution, a subscription-based curated snack package for those living with diabetes, ensures customers receive the products they need without the hassle.
Kristina has earned a chance to compete in the finals on May 15, and has also earned trip to New York City! You can help cheer on Kristina at this free event! Click here for more information.
This is the second year in a row in which Holy Trinity has won two spots for Round 1 and will be competing in the finals.
The semi-final judges represented a variety of backgrounds including entrepreneurs, consultants, an exchange program from Eastern Europe andNFTE alumni, including our own Mason Baker ’18.
In preparation for the finals, Kristina and her competitors will be coached by the Slalom Consultants.
