Dear Friends of Holy Trinity,
Our doors opened on Wednesday, August 19th and the 111th year of educating our city’s youth began for Holy Trinity! After the disappointing way school ended last Spring for millions of high school students and the countless hours invested in creative planning for this Fall, it was exciting to see students in person and virtually again!
One hundred new students joined the Holy Trinity family this school year, an impressive number given the challenges that Covid-19 is presenting to so many families. With a strong command of our remote learning program last spring, detailed planning to address safety concerns over the summer, generous donors who provided support for those in our community that needed emergency help with their tuition and constant communication with our families, we were able to overcome these challenges and emerge even stronger. Amazingly, our enrollment is larger than last school year! I am proud to report that every one of the students that received emergency tuition support in March has come back to school. Our students remain eager to soak up the Trinity experience!
Our teachers have attacked the enormous job of teaching our students synchronously – half in the classroom and half e-learning at the same time – with confidence and determination. Never having had cameras in their classroom before, their “can do” spirit is infectious and inspires every one of us. They report engaged students both at home and in school.
With Phase One of the Façade Project completed, our historic building stands structurally sound and beautifully elegant! Some plastering and painting in June and July has left a fresh feel to the building as well and new ceiling fans in our classrooms have helped circulation and room temperatures considerably. In anticipation of the need for increased technology, we purchased additional Chromebooks, lapel microphones for teachers and wifi hotspots for those families that struggle with connectivity early in the summer to avoid the inevitable delays in delivery. All was ready to go by the first day of school!
Principal Dr. Paden ‘95 has brought his love of Holy Trinity home! His memories of what Holy Trinity meant to him and his vision of where we are going as a school are inspiring for our entire community! I have observed numerous alumni stop by to wish him luck and pledge that their younger children will be headed to HT when they reach high school.
The last six months have been unlike any time in my 28 years at Holy Trinity. I am reminded that there is an enduring character to the Holy Trinity mission that is greater than any one of us. Thank you for your faithful commitment to our students and belief in Holy Trinity. Together, we have set the stage for a life-changing experience for our students!
God Bless,
Timothy M. Bopp,
