Alex Martinez and Haziel Sanchez, both seniors at Holy Trinity were selected to the Illinois High School Soccer-Coaches Association (IHSSCA) All Sectional team for boys soccer this season. The IHSSCA recognizes players who showed great athleticism and sportsmanship, both on and off the field. Larry Martin, head coach of the HT boys varsity soccer team  said of Martinez: “Alex has been a standout player since his freshman year. He has started every game for four years and has been an important part of a team that had won regionals his freshman year and played for the conference title last year. Our team has faced a lot of adversity this year but Alex has been a very bright spot.” Over his soccer career at HT, Martinez has contributed  24 goals, with 27 assists, and has served as team captain for the last two seasons.

Coach Martin on Sanchez: “It was a very good day for Holy Trinity soccer and our school in general when Haziel transferred to our school for his sophomore year. He has been a standout midfield player for us for three years. Haziel has a great soccer IQ and tremendous desire to win. Haziel will be a very good college soccer player if he chooses to play.” This season, Sanchez has contributed  eight goals and four assists, with 21 goals and 14 assists over his soccer career.

Join us in congratulating two of our awesome soccer players on this grand accomplishment.
