This is an introductory course covering literature, composition, reading, and oral expression. Students will read the short stories, poetry, dramas, and novels  while discussing and analyzing genre, character, plot, and theme. The student will complete various types of essays, refining his/her existing strengths in sentence construction, idea formation, argument support, and introductory library research. Writing will be taught as a process of drafting, revising, and revising once again.  The student will be encouraged to strengthen oral skills through participation in class discussions and individual and group projects.
