Technology Agreement

Student & Parent Acknowledgment

At Holy Trinity High School, technology is an important part of teaching and learning. Each student is entrusted with a school-issued Chromebook to support classroom instruction, collaboration, research, creativity, and communication.

Receiving a Chromebook is a privilege. Students are expected to use school technology responsibly, ethically, and in accordance with this agreement, the Holy Trinity Student Handbook, and all applicable school policies.

Student Responsibilities

Students agree to:

  • Bring their fully charged Chromebook to school each day unless otherwise instructed.
  • Use the Chromebook primarily for educational purposes.
  • Care for the Chromebook as if it were their own personal property.
  • Transport the Chromebook safely using a protective case or backpack.
  • Report any damage, loss, theft, or malfunction immediately to the Technology Department or Main Office.
  • Keep their username and password confidential.
  • Follow all teacher directions regarding technology use in the classroom.

Acceptable Use

Students may use their Chromebook to:

  • Access instructional materials
  • Complete assignments
  • Participate in online learning activities
  • Conduct research
  • Communicate appropriately with teachers and classmates
  • Use school-approved educational applications and websites

Students should understand that there is no expectation of privacy when using school-issued devices or school-managed accounts.

Prohibited Activities

Students may not:

  • Access, create, or distribute inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content.
  • Use the Chromebook for cyberbullying, harassment, or intimidation.
  • Attempt to bypass internet filtering or school security measures.
  • Install unauthorized software, extensions, or applications.
  • Modify system settings, security configurations, or administrative controls.
  • Share passwords or allow others to use their assigned Chromebook.
  • Damage, deface, or place stickers on the Chromebook without school approval.
  • Use the Chromebook to cheat or engage in academic dishonesty.
  • Download copyrighted material without permission.
  • Use the Chromebook in any manner that disrupts learning or violates school policies.

Care of the Chromebook

Students are responsible for protecting their Chromebook from damage.

Students should:

  • Keep food and drinks away from the device.
  • Avoid exposing the Chromebook to extreme temperatures or moisture.
  • Never leave the Chromebook unattended in public areas or unsecured locations.
  • Carry the Chromebook with care and avoid dropping or placing heavy objects on it.
  • Clean the screen only with approved microfiber cloths or products recommended by the school.

Damage, Loss, and Theft

Students and families must notify the school immediately if a Chromebook is:

  • Lost
  • Stolen
  • Damaged
  • Not functioning properly

Families may be financially responsible for repair or replacement costs resulting from negligence, intentional damage, or failure to report a lost device promptly. The school reserves the right to determine whether damage resulted from normal wear and tear or misuse.

A police report may be required for stolen devices.

Internet Safety

Holy Trinity High School utilizes internet filtering and monitoring tools to promote safe online learning. However, no filtering system is perfect.

Students are expected to:

  • Practice good digital citizenship.
  • Protect their personal information.
  • Report any inappropriate online content or suspicious activity immediately.
  • Respect the privacy and rights of others.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Artificial intelligence tools may be used only when permitted by the student’s teacher and in accordance with assignment expectations.

Students may not:

  • Submit AI-generated work as their own when original work is required.
  • Use AI tools to cheat, plagiarize, or violate academic integrity policies.
  • Use AI to create harmful, offensive, or inappropriate content.

Teachers may require students to disclose or cite AI assistance when appropriate.

Monitoring

Holy Trinity High School reserves the right to:

  • Monitor device usage.
  • Review files stored on school-issued devices.
  • Access school-managed accounts.
  • Restrict or revoke technology privileges.
  • Inspect devices at any time when there is reasonable concern regarding policy violations.

Consequences

Failure to comply with this agreement may result in one or more of the following:

  • Temporary or permanent loss of Chromebook privileges
  • School disciplinary action
  • Restitution for damaged or lost equipment (see handbook)
  • Additional consequences outlined in the Student Handbook

Student Acknowledgment

I understand that the Chromebook issued to me remains the property of Holy Trinity High School. I agree to use it responsibly, protect it from damage, and follow all school technology policies.

Parent/Guardian Acknowledgment

I have reviewed this Chromebook Technology Use Agreement with my student. I understand my student’s responsibilities regarding the care and appropriate use of the Chromebook. I understand that I may be responsible for repair or replacement costs resulting from negligence, misuse, or intentional damage.
