Reality Check for HT Girls’ Flag Football
written by Coach Gladden
The girls Flag Football team played their home opener and second game of the season against Chicago
Bulls College Prep on Thursday. The game was fast, physical, and played at a pace that the Tigers had not
experienced. The result was a 26-0 loss.
The combination of running, passing, and aggressive defense had the Lady Tigers on their heels the
majority of the first half. Michalah Powell, Sunita Pate, and Angelina Mora each had opportunities to
record takeaways and slow down the visitors’ offense, but could not close out the plays, enabling the Bulls
to sustain drives. Halftime score: 13-0.
The second half mirrored the first with the Bulls squad being more aggressive and keeping pressure on the
Tiger offense. A bright spot for the Tiger defense was an interception by Angelina (her second of the
season) that she returned deep into the visitors’ territory. The Bulls defense stymied the Tiger offense and
kept the Lady Tigers out of the end zone to maintain the shut out. Final score: 26-0.
The Lady Tigers will see action next Tuesday at Chicago Academy when they face the Lady Cougars and
try to get back in the win column. Go Tigers!
