The Holy Trinity Athletics department is thrilled to announce the hire of the new faces of the Girls’ Varsity Soccer program! Head Coach Elijah Arons and Assistant Coach Lina Meyjes joined the HT Family in November 2024 and are excited to take the reins of the Girls’ Soccer program, starting with pre-season conditioning in December. Coach Elijah and Coach Lina will are committed to providing a stellar experience for their student-athletes and we are so happy to have them on board. You can read their coaching bios below! Head Coach – Girls Varsity Soccer

Coach Elijah has played soccer for more than 20 years and has played in every position on the field. As a junior in high school, he was the team’s top scorer while also playing extensive minutes in midfield and defense. He captained his team as a senior to the first tournament win in program history and the highest conference finish in more than 10 years while receiving All-Conference honors. He possesses a Grassroots coaching license and has coached for more than 12 years at all age groups from U-8 through high school. During this time, his teams won multiple league titles and tournament trophies and brought an ethic of hard work and teamwork to every game. While in college, he was a practice squad player for the University of Michigan Women’s Soccer team and learned about the game from Coach Greg Ryan, who was previously the U.S. Women’s National Team head coach, and Coach Dean Duerst, the winningest coach in University of Wisconsin’s history. Coach Elijah believes in empowering the players to trust their ability to find solutions on the field and is excited to facilitate individual and team growth throughout the season.
Assistant Coach – Girls Soccer

Coach Lina comes from an extensive career as a player and fan of the beautiful game from small beginnings in her hometown of Cadillac, Michigan. She played on her school’s varsity squad all 4 years, a captain her senior year, and with that team won the school’s first (and second, and third) conference titles as well as the school’s first district championship. Coach Lina received accolades from the state by being selected for the All-State Honorable Mention team (sophomore year), All-State Second Team (junior), and All-State First Team (senior). Her playing career continued at Grand Valley State University on the club soccer team. This team went to the national tournament every year that she played, and she held positions of leadership on the elective board as well as being a captain. Coach Lina has several seasons of experience as a youth soccer coach. She is certified in SafeSport and has a Grassroots Coaching License through U.S. Soccer. She is looking forward to getting to know all of the amazing players and parents in Holy Trinity Athletics. In addition, Coach Lina is currently a student at Loyola University Chicago obtaining her masters degree in social work. Coach Lina is a mandated reporter and is a safe and open space for students to come to. She is also a fan of the USWNT, Chelsea WFC, FC Barcelona, and Gotham FC.
