Tiger Runners Close Season with Strong Performances at Conference and Regional Meets
The Holy Trinity Cross Country teams put together some of their best runs of the season in the final two meets of the year. In the boys CPC Championship race, senior Pitias Merach finished ninth, covering the three mile course in 20:15. His time and effort placed him on the All-Conference team. On the girls side, sophomore Andrea Barrera finished 11 th , just missing All-Conference honors. Her time of just over 26 minutes, was her fastest of the year by more than two minutes. Senior Samira Mota, competing in her first CPC Championship, finished 13 th (28:45) and registered a season best. On Friday the thin clads headed to Lincoln Park and competed in the IHSA Class 1A XC Regional, hosted by Chicago Hope Academy. Running in near perfect conditions, Andrea crushed her personal record and finished with a time of 26:21.4, placing seventeenth. Samira closed out her season with a twenty-first place finish and new PR of 27:00.72, a 1:45 improvement over her previous best. In the boys race, Pitias worked his way through the pack to finish with a new personal record (20:0.43), placing thirty-first overall.
