
The HT boys varsity team played a TENSE battle at Northtown Charter on Wednesday night (02.05.2025), with the visiting Tigers prevailing 57-54 enroute to clinching the 24-25 CPC conference title. This marked the first conference basketball championship for HT since 2007.
With the win, the team improved their overall record to 19-7 and completed their league schedule at a 6-1 mark. Both teams battled each other throughout the 32-minutes of play, with the Tigers leading by no more than eight points at any moment, and the host Pumas’ constantly battling back, to lead by no more than three. Northtown gained their last lead of the contest at 54-51 with 1:11 to play in the game. HT countered with a quick basket on their next possession to cut the score to 54-53 Pumas. Then with 11.7 seconds to play, and with HT leading 55-54, HT’s Jordyn Pate was fouled and sank two free throws to make it 57-54 Tigers.
Northtown had one more chance to tie.
After the Pumas final time out — a Puma three point attempt went off the rim and a short follow by another Puma teammate misfired — HT rebounded and prevailed at the buzzer.
Holy Trinity featured Drayton Willams as their leading scorer with 14 points. Pate, who sank the clinching charity throws had 13, while Deon Glenn added. 10. Other HT scorers included: Elder Donaldson (7); Carlton Gardner (6), Joshua Shelton (3) and Aiden Upchurch (2) completed the scoring.
