Boys Soccer: Senior Night Recap

The HT Boys Soccer team had an electric evening for Senior Night on Tuesday, October 1st, coming up with a huge 4-2 victory over Rochelle Zell.

Under the bright lights of Humboldt Park/All State Field, in front of dozens of HT supporters—families, teachers, fellow classmates—the Tigers roared back from a 2-1 deficit and cashed in on two second-half goals to win, 4-2. Gerardo (Lalo) Hernandez protected the HT goal, while senior Tristan Arias-Galacia, senior Fernando Gaytan, sophomore Alex Cruz, and senior Eliab Girmay provided the attack with 1 goal apiece. Gaytan scored on a set play free kick, in which Arias-Galacia pump-faked the kick, leaping over the ball, allowing Gaytan to come in and deliver a booming shot toward the Zell keeper, who, to his credit, was in the right place and got hands on the shot; however, the ball bounced off the keeper’s hands and into the goal. Finally, Girmay delivered the game-clinching goal with a flurry of footwork inside the box to confuse and gain separation from 4 or 5 Zell defenders, before rocketing a shot with perfect accuracy through the net and past the keeper’s outstretched arms.

Apart from the actual game result, the Senior Night ceremony was a celebration of the 11 HT seniors:
