Alley Cats Close Out Successful Season
written by Coach Gladden
Several Tiger track and field athletes had an opportunity to extend their season, competing at the Hope/Latin Boys Class 1A Sectional and the Girls Class 1A Semifinals in Charleston.
Jaden Hamilton ran the 100 meter sprint, finishing with a time of 11.52 seconds, missing the opportunity to advance to the Class 1A semifinals by .28s. Manasseh Boahene competed in the 400m race, finishing eighth and Viktor Markovych finished nineteenth at 100 meters and ninth in the 200m sprint.
Alex Cruz finished his season with a personal record for the 200 meter sprint, taking the 24 th spot.
Pitias Merach, looking to book a ticket to the State Semifinals in the 800 meter race, finished fifth, three places short of qualifying.
Jilene Velazquez, seeking to ride the momentum of her Timothy Christian Class 1A Long Jump Sectional Title, competed in Charleston in the State Semifinals. Unfortunately, her jump series was not strong enough to advance to the finals.
The Holy Trinity track and field season ends after a year of multiple personal bests and a new school record. The Alley Cats wrapped up another successful campaign, providing excitement and anticipation for next year’s season.
To our seniors – good luck and thank-you for all your contributions and leadership. To all returning athletes – let us build on the team’s success and come back next year bigger, stronger, and better.
