School Record, Seven Personal Records at Walther Christian Invitational

Strong performances at the right time of the year are what makes Track and Field such
an exciting sport. The Holy Trinity Track and Field teams, aka “the Alley Cats,” had
another day of solid efforts at the Walther Chrisitan Invitational hosted by Timothy
Christian.

The meet kicked off on a high note as Jilene Velasquez had her best long jump series
of the season, capped by a school record leap of 5.16 meters (16’-11¼”) to take the top
spot. The 800 meter Mixed Relay team of Emaly Lopez, Alex Cruz, Michelle
Robinson, and Jaden Hamilton, secured fourth place (1:51.40) in the unique event to
open the running part of the meet. Then the personal records started to fall.

The 4x100m team of Emaly, Michelle, Sunita Pate, and Jilene pushed the baton around
the track in 55.77 seconds, finishing sixth. Sunita lowered her personal best 100-meter
hurdle time to 21.35 seconds (ninth). Jilene had a seasonal best 100m sprint time of
13.49 seconds and Michelle crossed the line in 13.75 seconds setting a new individual
best. Michelle closed her day with a second personal best (29.31s) for 200 meters.

Pitias Merach dropped a new personal record for 800 meters, claiming the sixth-place
spot with a time of 2:18.42. Claude Bickel continued his 800 meter progress lowering
his two-lap time to 2:42.46. Jaden took on the 400 meter challenge to finish ninth
(54.69s) and Manasseh Boahene closed the one lap loop in 57.77s finishing eleventh
overall. In the final sprint event of the day, Viktor Markovich joined the PR onslaught by
running the half lap sprint in 24.52 seconds and an eighth-place finish. Manasseh
(25.06) finished eleventh, covering the same distance. Denelle Owens jumped 3.79
meters in the long jump.

The throws group included a personal best.

In the shot put, Leonte Curington-Harris earned a ninth-place finish (9.90m) and
Patrick Ezeanyin had a personal best throw of 7.78m (16 th ). Arielle Asberry-Baker
threw 5.69 meters.

Shout out to everyone who came out to support the team at the Walther Invitational.

The Alley Cats will be in action this week for the final week of competition and tune up
before the outdoor conference championship on May 8 th . Tuesday they will compete at
the Hope Eagle Invitational and Saturday at the Orr Invitational.
