Senior Jaden Hamilton and junior Manasseh Boahene are the latest Holy Trinity athletes to punch their tickets to the semifinals for the Class 1A State High School Outdoor State Track and Field Championships. Both athletes earned their spots through qualifying finishes in their respective events. Jaden missed the 100 meter title by the smallest of margins (.04 seconds) finishing second and receiving the automatic qualifier, while Manasseh had to hold off a hard charging runner from the host school, Lycée Francais de Chicago, to capture the qualifying spot in the 400 meter dash. It will be the first trip to the state semis for both runners. Jaden just missed a second qualifying finish in the half lap sprint finishing third.

Two other HT athletes took home hardware from the Sectional meet. Alex Cruz circled the oval twice, claiming the fourth spot in the 800 meter run in a time of 2:18.27. Freshman Trevion Perry running the 800 meter – 1600 meter double, finished twelfth at 800 meters and secured the final medal in the 1600 meter race, finishing sixth place with a time of 5:32.89. Just off the podium was Viktor Markovych, who finished seventh in the one lap (400m) race. Claude Bickel, running his first 1600 meter race of the season, finished ninth.

In the field events, Patrick Ezeanyin finished fifteenth, pushing the shot out 8.2m (26’ -10 ¾ “).

Good luck to Jaden and Manasseh as they are making their trip to the Class A State Semifinals next week. Go Tigers!
