The Holy Trinity track and field teams wrapped up the regular season on Saturday at the Latin Hope Invitational #5, hosted by Chicago Hope Academy, turning in several strong performances and seasonal best marks ahead of this week’s CPC Outdoor Championships.
The Tigers were highlighted by a first-place finish in the 4x100m relay in a seasonal best time of 47.02, while several athletes posted seasonal-best and personal best performances in the team’s final tune-up before the conference championships. Despite just one first place finish on the day, the Tigers saw a solid day in the sprints. Jaden Hamilton finished second in the 100-meter sprint with a seasonal-best time of 11.63 and fourth place finish at 200 meters in a time of 23.54. Manasseh Boahene and Viktor Markovych turned in seasonal-best times at 400 meters finishing second (55.98) and fourth (59.04) respectively. Sunita Pate posted a seasonal best mark for the 100 meter dash (14.58) and a personal record time at 200 meters (30.53) finishing seventh and eighth overall.
In the field events, Arielle Baker recorded a seasonal best throw in the shot put capturing fourth with a toss of 7.68 meters (25’-2 ½”). Nayanah Mahone leaped 4.00 meters (13’-1 ½”) in the long jump to finish third. Yuri Bryant added a mark of 4.83 meters (15’-10 ¼”) in his inaugural long jump competition, good for eighth place and he cleared 1.52 meters (4’-11 ¾”) to place third in the high jump.
The Tigers now shift their focus to the CPC Outdoor Championships, which will take place Thursday at Westmont High School.
