Holy Trinity took home five of the top seven awards!
On Thursday, April 26, 2018, 19 HT students competed in the World Series of Entrepreneurship, held at 1871 Chicago in the Merchandise Mart. This is the first year this competition has been offered in Chicago. Holy Trinity went home with five of the seven awards, with students earning a total of $12,750 in prizes!
Mason Baker ’18 was awarded 1st Place and $10,000 for his business plan, Safe Ride. De’Jah Donahue ’18 won 3rd Place and $2,000 for her concept Knowledge is Power. Winning $250 each, Anastasia Adjei ’19, Ashley Walton ’19 and Maryfer Palacios ’19 were also named Excellence award winners.
This is the first year Holy Trinity has participated in the World Series of Entrepreneurship, and the first year the competition has been offered in Chicago. Students developed their business concepts and plans through the NFTE Corporate Experience class, part of our B-STEM Honors Program.
In all, 60 students representing schools from across the region entered into the Chicago competition. The World Series of Entrepreneurship is a venture pitch competition series open to any high school student. Students compete for venture and college scholarship dollars and also access mentoring and internship opportunities. The event included networking time with mentors, a presentation board competition and a live pitch competition on the main stage.
