Despite less-than-ideal running conditions, the Tiger runners used the opportunity to post eleven personal bests in their signature events. For the Lady Tigers, the day started with the quartet of Seniah Martin, Angelica Cave, Delilah Gutierrez, and Sunita Pate, moving the baton around the track in 1:01.94, taking 9th place. Angelica lowered her 100 meter personal record, with Sunita and Seniah posting quality runs as well in the 100 meter sprint. Andrea Barrera finished 8th in the 800 meter run, posting an outdoor season best of 3:03.74. Sophia Conde finished 20th covering the same distance. Sunita took the 10th spot in the half lap sprint, Angelica finished 19th and reset her personal record and Elizabeth Cave, working through injury completed the half lap sprint for her only event of the day. Arielle Asberry-Baker took home meet hardware with a third place finish in the shot put throwing 6.33 meters (22’- 9 ¼ “). The Lady Tigers finished fourteenth overall.

On the boys side, nine personal records set the tone, highlighted by Manasseh Boahene’s 3rd place finish for 200 meters, covering the distance in 23.63 seconds. Alex Cruz (5th) and Trevion Perry (15th) used the day to lower their personal records for 800 meters covering the two lap race in 2:18.09 and 2:30.95, respectively. Trevion returned to the track to run the 1600 meter race finishing 10th at 5:37.21. Stuart Roberts and Claude Bickel took on the 400 meter sprint, circling the oval in personal record times of 1:01.24 (14th) and 1:07.43 (25th). The 100 meter sprint featured Viktor Markovich (11th), Yuri Bryant (14th), and Denelle Owens (29th). Yuri and Denelle established new personal records for the distance. The same duo set personal records for the half lap distance as well. Yuri completed his day going over the high jump bar, clearing 4’-9 ¾” for 7th place. Also in the field events, Patrick Ezeanyim finished 10th in the shot put with a throw of 8.55 meters (28’- ¾ “).

The 4×100 relay team of Yuri, Manasseh, Denelle, and Viktor finished sixth, one place away from the medal stand. The 4×400 meter relay team of Stuart, Claude, Alex, and Viktor suffered the same fate, finishing sixth as well. 

The next chance to see the Tigers in action will be Saturday, April 25th at the Walther Christian Invitational in Elmhurst.
