
After a series of bad weather days, the skies cleared on Saturday enough to enable the Tiger track team to put together a series of impressive early season performances. The field events started the day, and Patrick Ezeanyim set a PR with a throw of 8.62 meters (28’-3 ½”) to place 15th in the shot put. The track events featured Jaden Hamilton finishing 3rd in the 100 meter sprint with a time of 11.93, and Viktor Markovych taking 7th place in the same event. Seth Miller and Denelle Owens finished 19th and 20th respectively over the same distance. Denelle’s time of 13.61 is his current personal best. Alex Cruz, Trevion Perry, and Claude Bickel put together personal record performances in the two lap event, finishing 8th, 16th and 17th (2:21.05, 2:35.63, 2:38.12).
Trevion completed the 800m/1600m double with a 14th place finish at 1600 meters covering the distance in 5:43.62, reducing his personal record by 40 seconds. Jaden held off a late charge by a runner from Timothy Christian to take the 200 meter title with a personal best of 23.14 seconds.
On the relay front, the Tiger quartet of Denelle, Seth, Viktor, and Jaden finished 4th in the 4 x 100 meter relay, moving the baton around the track in 48.11 seconds. Trevion, running his third race of the day, Claude, Viktor, and Alex closed out the meet running the 4 x 400 meter relay. Viktor, running third, ran an outstanding leg, closing a 20 meter gap to put the team in scoring position. The group finished 5th overall.
On the girls side, Sunita Pate finished 13th in the 100 meter race and 13th in the half lap sprint with a season best time of 31.13 seconds. Elizabeth Cave (100 meters – 28th /200 meters – 26th ) and Andrea Barrera (200 meters – 19th) opened their outdoor racing season. The Tigers will see their next action on Saturday, April 18th, competing in the Rickover Invitational #2.
